ASPIRING PHOTOGRAPHERS | Hello and Welcome!
If you’re a photographer and you’ve ended up on my site, first of all – thanks for stopping by! Whether you’re here because you don’t know how to start your photography business, or you have a camera but don’t know how to use it, or if you just want to learn how to edit your photos– I’m here for you!
Why I Choose Photography…
I have always loved to draw, paint, and take pictures. When I was growing up, I loved doing make-up and hair. Then I faced a dilemma. Should I join my family in their decades-old restaurant business or follow my creative dreams? I realized that if I didn’t love my career, I would never be genuinely happy. To balance practicality and art, I attended beauty school in New York, while I majored in business at college. I like to explore different avenues of art. For over a decade, I’ve been working hard to build my photography business. I have a passion for it—photography keeps me excited because every day is a new day! The moments we share with others are unique and worth preserving. To capture a sliver of time and highlight the joy of a season makes every photo session exciting. Everyone tells me that my intuition is amazing—I have a natural ability for capturing the emotional import of a moment while creating a beautifully composed picture.
I TOTALLY wish I could say my grandfather gave me my first camera when I was 5 years old. And he taught me everything I needed to know at an early age… But, unfortunately it wasn’t that easy for me.
My name is Ashley and I’m ALL SELF TAUGHT. Yep. Long nights, early mornings, business owner, mother, soccer coach, volunteer, art docent, chef, house keeper, KIDS uber driver, and did I mention business owner— I’m sure you can relate? #Starbucks #Yoga #EssentialOils
Sure, the photography part was incredible– and then I realized… oh yeah, I’m supposed to be able to retire someday!
I initially wanted to start my own photography business because it was super important to me to be around for my daughter as she grew up… but you know how hard this business can be – from the constant “how do I file my taxes?”, to “how do I price my work?”, to “how do I train an assistant?”, to “how do I work my camera”, to “how do I edit my photos?” …. it’s overwhelming, especially for us photographers. Some of you are natural business people. I was not. I had to teach myself everything and it took 100% commitment (it’s like committing to oxygen).
I realized I enjoyed teaching others just as much as I enjoyed taking photos. I got really creative really fast because TIME is MONEY. I went from $20K in revenue to 6 FIGURES by the end of my 3rd year in business. And… I graduated from 65 hours of editing per week to 20. I’ve had over 40 magazine cover publications and I’ve worked with many notable executives such as the CEO of Jamba Juice.
Starting with the equipment you need, how to work your camera, marketing, social media, getting clients, customer service, lighting, posing, locations, being a good sales person, client management, networking…. the list is LONG – we, as business owners, must have a handle on all of this – not to mention the TECHNICAL and creative side of what we do! It can be overwhelming…and if you’re roaming around Facebook groups looking (begging) for help from other photographers, you may want to save yourself the headache and hire a MENTOR. Studies show that the rate of success is much higher with those entrepreneurs who mentor with someone else; it’s the ACCOUNTABILITY that makes the difference. That one on one help is necessary and oh so valuable because I strive to provide you with EVERYTHING you need to know. Whether it be one on one in person or by webinar, I’m here to fit the needs of EVERYONE even if you live in another country. I will give you my personal cell phone number to address any immediate questions. You can COUNT ON ME! I have different programs to offer depending on what works best for you.
I enjoy answering questions & finding solutions…
